Princess Eugenie previously revealed that she has developed one very specific phobia since becoming a mother for the first time in 2021. The 36-year-old, who tied the knot with Jack Brooksbank in 2018, welcomed their first son, August, in February 2021.
The couple later welcomed their second son, Ernest, in May 2023, before announcing that they are expecting their third child earlier this year. The couple shared their delight in a statement released by Buckingham Palace, revealing their two sons were also “excited” about becoming big brothers to a new sibling.
The baby, who will also be a fifth grandchild for Sarah Ferguson and Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, is set to join the family this summer.
Speaking at the World Economic Forum event in Davos in January 2023, when she was around five months pregnant with Ernest, Eugenie said: My son’s [August] going to be an activist… So, he, everything is for them.
“I talked to Peter Thomson, the UN Special Envoy for Oceans and all he says to me is that I do this for my grandchildren. And that’s the same. Every decision we now make has to be for August, what he’s going to be able to look at and do and how he’s going to live his life.”
She also added: “But I think also as a mother, you all of a sudden, totally you change, your hormones change, everything changes.”
Revealing her “sudden” phobia, Eugenie added: “Like now I’m scared of flying and things like that and I would never be before.”
As well as a statement, Eugenie also took to Instagram to share the news of her pregnancy, alongside a picture of her sons holding her scan picture.
The caption simply read: “Baby Brooksbank due 2026! [red-heart emoji] [little-baby emoji].”
Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, who is married to Eugenie’s sister Princess Beatrice, wrote three red hearts in the comment section.
