More UK shoppers are set to get a local Aldi as the supermarket giant is continuing with its plans to expand across Britain. The budget German chain, which has been consistently named the cheapest supermarket in the UK, is growing its British footing and recently became the fifth-largest supermarket in the country by market share. The retailer has confirmed plans to open more stores across the UK in the coming months, and recently added to the hype by announcing 25 “priority locations” where it has its eyes on for new Aldi stores.
Aldi also says its expansion will create new jobs, with the chain remaining the UK’s highest-paying supermarket. It recently announced that it was investing over £370 million in new stores this year as it works towards its long-term target of 1,500 locations nationwide. It comes after Aldi’s recent £40 million investment in London, where eight new stores are set to open this year, bringing hundreds of new jobs and more affordable food options to communities that currently lack access to discount supermarkets.

Aldi is now seeking freehold, leasehold or long leasehold sites in prominent locations with good visibility and access. It is encouraging landowners and agents to come forward with suitable opportunities.
