Thousands of people are fascinated with a woman who looks like Andy Burnham, dubbing her as Mandy Burnham. Taking to TikTok, the woman, Chaplain Emma Roberts, 54 has an uncanny resemblance to the new PM with the same haircut, brows, glasses and smile. With around 1300 followers, Emma often discusses religion and politics on her account – and she’s posed a question for the new PM.
On her TikTok account, called @quakerologyemma, she says: “So people are calling me Mandy Burham, as you know, and it’s really interesting to me because I am commenting on religious issues, spiritual issues, and politics. So the fact that Andy Burnham is a catholic, a non-practicing catholic, I think, is interesting to me. Is that going to change British politics?”
Andy Burnham, who is a keen user of social media, has taken part in a few online videos himself.
Emma says: “I loved his pub snacks video, some people thought that was a bit of a gimmick but I’m all for scampi fries and prawn cocktail crisps.
“He wasn’t drinking a pint of beer, which was disappointing, but I think there have been other videos of him doing that. But what I am interested in, seriously, is to what extent does his Catholicism underpin his whole approach?”
Emma, from Swansea, supports the PM’s tax cut for pubs and she’s addressed people calling her Mandy Burnham, accepting the similarities.
She said: “People are loving it and finding it hilarious. I was talking to my mum and sister on Zoom and said, ‘People are saying I look like Andy Burnham’.
“And my own mother said, ‘For 20 minutes I’ve been thinking the same’. I couldn’t believe it,” reports The Sun.
Andy Burnham was born in Liverpool in 1970 and grew up in Cheshire.
The new PM studied English at the University of Cambridge and worked in journalism before moving into politics in his early 20s.
In 2001, he became an MP for the first time and he also held cabinet roles in former Prime Minister Gordon Brown’s government.
Burnham most recently has been known for being the mayor of Greater Manchester since 2017.
