Andy Murray’s daughter ‘refuses to walk next to him’ and ‘treats him like a stranger’ | Tennis | Sport

Andy Murray has admitted his eight-year-old daughter “finds me very embarrassing” and treats him “like a stranger” in public. The Scot, 37, has four children with his wife Kim – Sophia, Edie, Teddie and Lola.

And before playing his first match of his potentially final grasscourt season at the Boss Open in Stuttgart, the former world No.1 and double Wimbledon champion revealed Sophia is not impressed by his sporting achievements.

“My eldest daughter finds me very embarrassing. So when I go to collect her from school, she refuses to walk next to me.

“I’m not allowed to leave the car when I drop her off at school.

“She treats me like a stranger in front of all of her friends and stuff. So yeah, it’s tough. Tough for me.

“She’s only eight and she’s already feeling that way. So I can only imagine what it will be like when she’s older.”

Murray will play American Marcos Giron in the first round tomorrow (Tues) with the winner facing British No.2 Jack Draper.

“I’m doing well and I am happy to be back playing here,” said Murray. “I am hoping I can have another good tournament.”
