Beckenham stabbing: Man fighting for life after being knifed on train | UK | News

A young man is fighting for his life after being repeatedly stabbed by a blade-wielding attacker on a rush-hour train to London packed with horrified commuters.

Shell-shocked passengers pleaded for the man to stop attacking his victim as the train passed between Shortlands and Beckenham en route to London Victoria.

Others made 999 calls begging for help as the train screeched to an emergency stop this afternoon, with emergency services arriving to take the man to hospital and investigate.

British Transport Police (BTP) said the man was airlifted to hospital by the London Air Ambulance after sustaining “life-threatening injuries”.

Police are yet to make any arrests, and detectives are now appealing for witnesses after the service received calls regarding “men fighting”, and confirmed a man had “sustained serious injures consistent with being stabbed”.

BTP are appealing to anyone who may have information about this evening’s incident, with witnesses asked to text 61016 or call 0800 40 50 40 quoting the reference number 397 of 27/03/2024.

Alternatively, people can also anonymously provide information by calling crime charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
