Bedford train crash LIVE: ‘Two trains collide’ on Bedford to Luton line – ‘do not travel’ | UK | News

Two trains have collided in the Bedford area, police have said. Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue crews are attending the scene just south of Bedford, with reports of multiple air ambulances and 999 crews dispatched to the scene. Images widely circulating on social media show two collided trains, with people who appear to be emergency and railway workers on the tracks.

British Transport Police said shortly before 6.45pm: “We’re responding to reports of a collision involving two trains in the Bedford area. We’ll share more information as soon as possible.” Thameslink has urged people not to travel on the Bedford – Luton line, adding there was a “problem under investigation”. Initial reports suggest some passengers may be “seriously injured” following the collision, but authorities have yet to release a statement.
