A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman died at a house this morning, July 8, police said. Emergency services were called to the scene in Burnage, southern Manchester, to reports of an assault at an address.
They responded to the incident at approximately 8am, Greater Manchester Police said. A woman in her 60s was sadly pronounced dead at the scene by responders following their arrival, police added.
A teenage boy was arrested and remains in custody for questioning, the force added.
An investigation was launched by Greater Manchester Police detectives and remains ongoing.
On Wednesday evening, a police car was pictured along the residential street.
A police spokesperson said in a statement: “Officers responded to reports of an assault at an address on Ivylea Road, Burnage, at around 8am today (08/07/26).
“One woman aged in her 60s sadly died at the scene and a boy, aged 16, has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody for questioning. “
