At least four people have died following a collision between a train and a minibus used for school transport. The horror incident happened at the crossing on Stationsstraat in Buggenhout, a town in Belgium, on Tuesday morning.
Emergency services have flooded the scene, with pictures showing firefighters, police officers and paramedics in the area. Around 100 passengers were believed to be on board the train, travelling from Bruges, and were evacuated safely. It was not immediately known how many schoolchildren, if at all, were on the bus. Belgium’s mobility minister Jean-Luc Crucke told Belgian broadcaster RTL that four people died in the crash – two children, the driver and the other adult.
