Chaos on residential street as ‘suspicious items’ found at two homes | UK | News

Chaos has unfolded on a Manchester residential street after suspicious items were found outside two homes less than 24 hours apart, sparking evacuations and a major police operation. Officers investigating the discovery of a suspicious item in the Fallowfield area found a second object outside a property on Rostherne Avenue at around 2.45pm on Sunday, June 7.

The latest discovery came after police were called to a suspicious item found in the front garden of a property on Abram Close shortly after 6.05pm on Saturday. Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) specialists assessed the first item, with around 20 nearby properties evacuated as a precaution. Police and partner agencies remain at the scene following Sunday’s discovery, with a cordon in place around the area. As a precaution, several more homes have been evacuated while emergency services continue their work. No arrests have been made and enquiries are currently ongoing.

Detective Chief Inspector Peter Morley, of Greater Manchester Police’s City of Manchester Division, said: “We thank everyone for their patience so far whilst we deal with this incident as our investigation into the full circumstances continues.
