The President of the United States has generated significant concern following claims he “can’t walk in a straight line”. Footage surfaced this week of Donald Trump reportedly approaching the press, with observers expressing worry about his demeanour during the encounter.
The moment appears to have taken place following his attendance at the Knicks-Spurs game, where he addressed reporters afterwards. Since then, a video of his movement has spread widely online, with viewers fixating on one particular aspect.
A video of the incident was posted on X, formerly Twitter, when someone remarked: “Are we just not gonna talk about the fact that he cannot manage to walk in a straight line?”
The clip shows Trump gripping railings before making his way towards journalists. Rather than proceeding in a direct line, he seems to sway somewhat from side to side, which captured observers’ attention.
He subsequently addresses reporters while acknowledging he found the game “fantastic” and “well-played by both teams”. Yet, since footage of the encounter was circulated online, numerous people could focus solely on his gait.
One remarked: “Well, his lapdogs ignore the fact that he can’t talk ‘straight’ talk, so they’ll ignore this too.” Another wrote: “It’s walking like a toddler!”
A third replied: “He cannot do a single thing straight.” Meanwhile, a fourth commented: “He can’t stand for press conferences either.”
Some commenters did rush to his defence, however. One wrote: “If you make it to 80, let’s see how well you walk.”
Another observed: “Actually, everyone I see out walking, including myself, do not walk in a straight line. It’s easy to waver every several steps.”
Opinions appeared sharply divided on the matter, though numerous observers noted that his gait appeared far from straight. Despite the controversy, he appeared to be in high spirits when he addressed the media.
Trump added: “We all had a lot of fun. It was great to watch. Very talented players.”
