Driver headbutted and stabbed in neck after asking man to move his car forward | UK | News

A driver was headbutted and stabbed in the neck after asking a man if he could move his car to make space for another vehicle to park. Jameel Ali, 24, lost it when the motorist asked if he could pull forward in Windmill Street, Peterborough, at about 4pm on New Year’s Eve in 2023.

The pair started rowing before Ali launched his vicious attack, headbutting the man before stabbing him in the neck with a knife. Thug, Ali, ran off and police were called.

Cambridgeshire Police said officers found the man, who is aged in his 30s, in the street with a wound to his neck.

The police said the man’s injury was consistent with a stab wound.

He was taken to Peterborough City Hospital for treatment and then transferred to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge.

Detectives identified Ali’s car and arrested him two days after his brutal attack.

Det Cons Lloyd Davis said: “This incident could have been much, much worse. It is only luck that the victim was not more seriously injured.”

Ali, of St Pauls Road, Peterborough, denied assault causing GBH with intent, but he was found guilty at Cambridge Crown Court in January.

He was sentenced to six years at the same court on Friday, May 15.

Det Cons Davis said: “I’m pleased Ali was identified, apprehended and has now received a significant custodial sentence for his actions.

“I also hope the conclusion of the court proceedings will enable the victim to put this experience behind him.”
