England could appeal World Cup decision after Donald Trump wades into FIFA row | Football | Sport

That’s according to Sky Sports, who say the FA are ‘considering their options’ when it comes to getting the defender’s red card rescinded.

Quansah was dismissed for a studs-up challenge on Jesus Gallardo following a VAR intervention. The incident was initially missed by the referee but after looking at the pitchside monitor, he decided to brandish a straight red card.

It saw England reduced to 10 players with around 30 minutes remaining in the second half. Thomas Tuchel responded by replacing Bukayo Saka with John Stones to restore England’s back four, with Ezri Konsa moving to right-back.

As a result of his red card, Quansah is ineligible to play against Norway in the quarter-finals on Saturday. It leaves England with a selection headache on the right side of defence.

Djed Spence also missed the victory over Mexico but could return to the squad for England’s next match.

One player who definitely won’t feature against Norway is Jordan Henderson, who is set to undergo surgery after suffering a serious wrist injury during the post-match celebrations.

It quickly became clear that he was badly hurt and he was taken away on a stretcher while receiving oxygen, with a number of England players standing around him to shield him from the prying eyes of the media.

Henderson was rushed to a nearby hospital and has since been ruled out for the remainder of the World Cup. He stayed in Mexico City with an England staff member, rather than travelling back to Kansas City with ther rest of the squad.
