Round of 32: England face DR Congo in Atlanta on Tuesday, July 1 (5pm UK time). They topped Group L at the World Cup with seven points, defeating Croatia and Panama and drawing against Ghana. Senegal was England’s projected opponent before overnight results locked in DR Congo.

Round of 16: If England advance past DR Congo, their next clash in knockout bracket will be the winner of the round of 32 match between Mexico and Ecuador. To add extra spice, they could face Mexico in Mexico City.
-
Quarter-Finals: Victory in the round of 16 guarantees a spot in the quarter-finals. At that stage, England’s potential opponents narrow down to four possibilities: five-time winners Brazil, Japan, Ivory Coast, or Norway.
-
Semi-Finals: Should England reach the final four, their semi-final opponent will come from a wide side of the bracket featuring Lionel Messi and reigning champions Argentina, Cape Verde, Australia, Egypt, Switzerland, Algeria, Colombia, or group-stage rivals Ghana.

The Final: England are on the opposite half to Spain, making the reigning European champions – who beat them in the Euro 2024 final – the most daunting opponents in the final. But England could alternatively face France, Portugal, Netherlands or Germany in New Jersey on July 19.
