English WAGs supporting rival teams at World Cup including Mbappe’s ex and TV star | Football | Sport

It’s 20 years since the World Cup of WAGs, when the wives and girlfriends of the England players wreaked havoc in Baden-Baden during the 2006 tournament. It was seen as the high point of WAG culture, with the likes of Victoria Beckham, Cheryl Cole and Abbey Clancy commanding as much attention as the events on the pitch.

Things have settled down since then, but in the social media era, WAGs have once again come to the fore, with some partners enjoying a bigger online presence than their significant others. And there’s no better stage for these WAGs to flaunt their status than in the terraces at the World Cup.

But while the country goes football mad for Thomas Tuchel’s Three Lions, there will be some English women at the World Cup supporting rival teams. As the tournament in North America enters its knockout stage, Express Sport have taken a look at some of the English WAGs supporting different teams other than England.

Kelci Rose – Marcos Senesi

Not only is Kelci Rose the girlfriend of current Argentina ace Marcos Senesi, she’s actually a footballer herself. Rose played for Bournemouth during Senesi’s time with the club, and has since left the Cherries to join him at Tottenham. Senesi wasn’t originally named in Argentina’s World Cup squad, but a late injury earned him the call up.

Taylor Ward – Riyad Mahrez

Depending on who you ask, some might be more aware of Taylor Ward than her partner, Riyad Mahrez. The daughter of Cheshire Housewives icon, Dawn Ward, Taylor has forged a reality career of her own, and featured alongside flame Mahrez in both seasons of Married to the Game on Amazon Prime. Taylor is often spotted at the ex-Manchester City star’s matches, sporting the colours of Algeria and his club side Al-Ahli, which coincidentally are exactly the same!

Antoine Semenyo – Jordeen Buckley

From one ex-City star to a current Blues ace, Antoine Semenyo had a season to remember last year, but despite being born in London, the forward represents Ghana. As such, his partner Jordeen Buckley is often seen following him around the world supporting Ghana. She’s a social media influencer and is also an ambitious entrepreneur, with reports she owns the London-based beauty service Jrose Nail Bar.

Manuel Ugarte – Georgia May Heath

And finally, Manuel Ugarte’s World Cup ended in disaster after suffering a horrific injury in Uruguay’s final match. His partner is also an Englishwoman, with Georgia May Heath having been originally linked to Real Madrid sensation Kylian Mbappe. That was back in 2021, but the Brit went public with her relationship to current Manchester United star Manuel Ugarte in January 2025.
