A large police presence was reported in Gateshead, with police cars, vans and armed officers spotted on a residential street. On Sunday morning, May 24, police officers arrived at Grange Crescent on the Leam Lane estate, which was cordoned off, to carry out an arrest.
Northumbria Police said the man “is contained inside an address on the street” and “is suspected to be in possession of a weapon”. Police, who are urging members of the public to avoid the area, added the man “is currently refusing to comply with officers”. Armed police were spotted in a clip circulating on social media, ChronicleLive reports.
