Get rid of annoying washing machine limescale buildup with common 35p item

We all know how tricky it can be to get rid of that pesky limescale in our washing machines, but don’t worry, there are things you can use to help clean it up.

Limescale forms when hard water dries up and leaves behind calcium and magnesium. This can seriously mess with your appliances – and your washing machine is no exception.

A study by the company AEG showed that one out of ten people in Britain didn’t know that washing machines could get limescale. Nearly half of the people in Britain said they never cleaned the limescale out of their machines, reports the Mirror.

Michael Forbes, Product Specialist at AEG recommends that people clean their machines at least once a month to prevent the build-up of limescale and ensure clothes are in tip-top condition.

He said: “A quick maintenance wash should be done at least once a month to keep the machine in the best possible condition and ensure clothes come out looking their best. However, every six months it is important to de-scale a washing machine to clean the tub, the area you can’t see surrounding the metal drum, to remove any bacteria and limescale buildup.”
