Hackney stabbing as man knifed to death near school in broad daylight | UK | News

Police have launched a murder investigation after a man was stabbed to death in broad daylight near a school in Hackney, East London. The victim, a man in his late 20s, died at the scene despite the best efforts of paramedics from the London Ambulance Service.

The fatal stabbing happened near a school in the middle of the day this afternoon, July 13. Police don’t believe any pupils at the school were involved and are treating it as an “isolated incident”. Police were called at around 1.42pm to Downs Park Road, Hackney.

The victim’s family are aware and will continue to be supported by specialist officers. Enquiries remain ongoing and there continues to be a large police presence in the area. Police will remain at the scene overnight.

No arrests have been made at this stage.

Detective Chief Inspector Wayne Jolley, from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command said: “Our investigation remains in the early stages and officers are working at pace to identify those responsible.

“Police will remain in the area overnight as our enquiries continue and I encourage anyone with any information to contact us.”

Detective Chief Superintendent Brittany Clarke who leads policing for the area said: “We understand that this incident occurred close to a school in broad daylight which will be hugely concerning for local residents.

“We don’t believe this to involve any pupils at the school and are treating this as an isolated incident.

“We will continue to update the community when we can.”
