Harry and Meghan dubbed ‘marmite’ – expert says UK did support them | Royal | News

To mark the big day, Meghan also shared photographs from the Windsor wedding that had never-been-seen before. This included photographs from the afternoon reception at Windsor Castle, and the evening reception at Frogmore House. While Harry and Meghan are no longer working royals, and have claimed many times that Britain was not supportive of the duchess, one royal expert has said otherwise.

Talking about the mood on the couple’s wedding day in 2018, royal expert and Vanity Fair royal editor Katie Nicholl said that the country supported Harry and Meghan’s union and the fact the duchess was joining the family.

Katie Nicholl said on The Royals Uncensored podcast: “They’re (Harry and Meghan) like marmite. I think it’s actually quite sad how it’s all sort of un-spiralled here in Britain for them.

“It makes me cross when people say Britain wasn’t behind the wedding because we were as a country, as a nation and actually the press was behind them.”

Since quitting royal life in 2020, less than two years after their wedding, Harry and Meghan have set up a new life together in Montecito, California.

They have shown no signs of wanting to return to the UK full-time or to become working royals again.
