At least two people have been taken to the hospital and “several others have been detained” as police responded to a shooting at a shopping centre in the US.
Police are currently at the scene to clear the scene at Haywood Mall in Greenville, South Carolina, after a “preliminary investigation indicates a dispute turned into a shooting,” Fox News reported.
The US broadcaster also said that, according to the police, “no other shots have been fired since officers arrived on the scene”. Fire crews, police, and ambulances are all at the scene. Forensic officers are also in attendance.
Emergency services are also assisting with evacuations. Designated areas have also been set up near the centre so drivers can pick up shoppers.
People are being urged to avoid the area while emergency services continue their work at the scene. Haywood Mall, which is the largest shopping centre in South Carolina, will be closed until further notice. The scene is active, but contained, according to Fox News.
