A dinner product stocked in Tesco and Sainsbury’s is one of two items that shoppers are being warned about by the Food Standards Agency. The FSA announced that Capsicana is recalling its Easy Going Mild Salsa after it emerged that the product contains barley (gluten) and mustard, neither of which is listed on the label.
The salsa is available across a number of supermarkets, and the particular item subject to the recall is a 285g pack, carrying a batch code of 6091 and a best-before date of May 2027.
The FSA stated: “This product contains barley (gluten) and mustard, making it a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to mustard and/or allergy or intolerance to barley or gluten, or with coeliac disease.
“Capsicana is recalling the above product from customers and has been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall. The company has also issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.
“If you have bought the above product and have an allergy to mustard and/or and allergy or intolerance to barley or gluten, or with coeliac disease, do not eat it. Instead return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund. No receipt required. For more information, please contact Capsicana consumer care team on 0800 0195 617, or email consumer.services@abworldfoods.com.”
Additionally, Dundeis UK Ltd is recalling Minton and Donello Organic White Orzo as it contains wheat (gluten), which is not disclosed on the label or within the ingredients list on the reverse of the packaging, the FSA announced.
The product in question is a 500g pack size, bearing batch code 78850 78850 78850. Best-before dates of January 31, 2027, May 2, 2027 and May 24, 2027 are impacted.

The FSA clarified: Sometimes there will be a problem with a food product that means it should not be sold. Then it might be ‘withdrawn’ (taken off the shelves) or ‘recalled’ (when customers are asked to return the product).
“Sometimes foods have to be withdrawn or recalled if there is a risk to consumers because the allergy labelling is missing or incorrect or if there is any other food allergy risk. When there is a food allergy risk, the FSA will issue an Allergy Alert.”
