Horror as woman sexually assaulted inside restaurant at UK station | UK | News

A man has been arrested after an alleged sexual assault on a woman in broad daylight in a train station restaurant. British Transport Police said the alleged assault happened at a branch of Wasabi in Birmingham New Street station at about 1pm on Sunday, May 17.

The woman walked into the eatery, where she was approached by a man who blocked her way and tried to chat to her. Police said the man went on to sexually assault her. A number of customers saw what happened and stepped in to challenge the culprit.

He was arrested at the scene on suspicion of sexual assault and has since been released on bail as police enquiries continue.

A spokesperson from British Transport Police said: “Officers are asking anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward and assist their investigation.”

BTP described the man as white, with tanned skin. He is aged about 30, with a buzz cut and light-coloured eyes.

The force said he was wearing black clothes and a black bomber jacket at the time of the alleged offence.
