You can find everything from top brands to collectables on the online marketplace, and now experts have shared what else people can sell to give themself a financial boost.
You might think that the drawer full of junk has no value, but you’d be surprised to discover that clearing out the clutter could earn you a few quid. In the process, you might even find something valuable hidden among the mess. Consumer expert Martyn James says that “even the lowliest form of tat is treasure for someone out there”. However, there’s one thing you should also be sure to do before putting up an item on sale.
He said: “If you’re emptying out the attic or shaking down the spare drawer for treasure, do some research online first to find out if the price people will pay is worth the effort.
“Loads of websites help you price up collectables – but make sure you grade and describe your items carefully as collectors complain if they feel they’ve been misled.”
Deepak Tailor, the founder of LatestFreeStuff.co.uk, echoed the call to go through your clutter to see if you can find any gems.
Mr Tailor said: “Selling your junk drawer on eBay might sound odd, but it’s actually a clever way to make a bit of extra cash and declutter at the same time.”
One Ebay seller managed to bank £59 for loose change, buttons, old brooches, and badges. The collection featured badges from the 70s, including promotional Smirnoff badges and a leather watch strap, and an edition of South Country Secrets by Euphan and Klaxon, reports The Sun.
Pictures, china, and silverware were found for £23, a bundle of silverware, scissors, and a cross was sitting for £26, while a listing for fans, combs and pens was up for £125.
While it is not a guarantee you will make money from selling your old things, it is always worth a try, as you never know what sort of treasures you might be holding.
