John Wayne’s personal signet ring up for auction in London | Films | Entertainment

John Wayne is one of the Hollywood Golden Age’s most enduring stars, continuing to be a household name half a century after his death.

But now a personal possession of the Duke’s is going up for auction across the pond here in London.

The item in question is a 14ct yellow gold signet ring featuring the star’s initials, JW, engraved on its oval face.

According to the annoucement: “The ring (which is accompanied by a Fraser’s certificate of authentication), will be offered in a two-day sale at Elmwood’s titled: A Private Collection of Antique, Vintage and Modern Jewels on May 13 & 14 2026 and carries an estimate of £2,000-£3,000. The ring comes from the distinguished private collection of Daniel Towell, an avid collector and jewellery dealer based in West Yorkshire. His own personal collection reflects a strong focus on craftsmanship, provenance and cultural significance.”

Sophie Padfield, Head of Elmwood’s Jewellery Department, said: “This is a rare opportunity to acquire a very personal item once belonging to a true film icon. Pieces of this kind provide collectors with more than just ownership, they create a tangible and deeply personal connection to history and the individuals who shaped it.”
