And while some people may think this is a “snub,” there is a little-known royal rule that explains otherwise. The rule was implemented towards the end of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign, in 2022.
The new guidelines on social media mean that the Royal Family would only publicly mark the birthdays of non-working royals when they end in a zero, which is normally considered a milestone.
When Meghan turned 41 in 2022, the late Queen’s X account remained silent, with many royal watchers labelling the move a “snub” despite wishing her a happy 40th birthday the year before.
In 2021, they shared three pictures featuring the Duchess with the message: “Wishing the Duchess of Sussex a very happy birthday today!”
They were accompanied by the message: “Thank you for the birthday love!”
Later in the day, she shared two new videos on her Instagram stories, giving her fans a glimpse of her special day.
Meghan was seen dancing around her kitchen in Montecito, California, next to a kitchen island with huge happy birthday balloons.
She was barefoot and dressed casually in white pyjamas consisting of white trousers and an oversized T-shirt featuring the words: “It’s giving Mrs.”
Her hair was wrapped up in a bun under a “birthday” tiara.
Prince Harry, who most likely recorded the video, could be heard in the background laughing and saying: “Oh dear.”
Their breakfast was also visible in the making and appeared to consist of bagels, tomatoes, herbs, and cheese, with some type of meat on the pan, and the plate featured flowers.
In the second video, their two dogs, beagle Mia and Labrador Pula, could also be seen joining in on the celebration, donning matching birthday hats.
Harry can again be heard saying: “Oh dear.”
