Liverpool in ‘concrete talks’ to sign new Toni Kroos in bargain transfer | Football | Sport

The Reds do have one new signing already confirmed, with Jeremy Jacquet finalising his switch from Rennes, while 18-year-old Ifeanyi Ndukwe is expected to join the club’s youth setup from Austria Wien, and attempts to secure another teenage sensation appear to be progressing.

Sky Germany claim that Liverpool have joined the race to sign Eichhorn. The club is said to have already conducted concrete talks with the 16-year-old, who is establishing a reputation as one of the most coveted talents in Germany.

Eichhorn has made 19 senior appearances for Hertha this season, but is reportedly already planning to depart the club this summer. A release clause valued at between £7.4m and £10m exists in his contract, which could simplify matters for Liverpool.

The Reds are far from the only club showing interest, though. Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, and Eintracht Frankfurt have all expressed an interest in Germany, while Real Madrid, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal, and Manchester United have also been linke, amongst others.

A defensive midfielder by trade, Eichhorn has drawn comparisons to Toni Kroos for his playing style. He has represented Germany at U15, U16 and U17 level, captaining his country in all four appearances for the latter.

Eichhorn could follow in the footsteps of not only Jacquet and Ndukwe in making the switch to Liverpool this summer, but also Samuel Martinez.

The Reds are believed to be closing in on a deal for the 17-year-old attacking midfielder, who currently plays for Atletico Nacional in his native Colombia. Martinez is expected to link up with Liverpool’s youth setup should the transfer be completed.
