Luke Littler hands Prince William unusual invite – ‘Good night out’ | Royal | News

Luke Littler received an MBE at Windsor Castle, and while he was there, he had the opportunity to chat with Prince William. The future king has shown his love for sport by supporting Premier League club Aston Villa – but now, Littler wants him to attend the darts.

Prince William said he thinks the World Darts Championship at Alexandra Palace “looks like a good night out,” Luke Littler said. On May 19, the world number one, who is just 19-years-old, was handed the MBE for his contribution to the sport. Littler said it was a “crazy experience” and revealed that William told him he had been “following his journey”.

He also said that the royal told him that the Ally Pally event looks like a “good night out”.

Asked by reporters if he had invited William, Littler said that he did not, but was sure that something could be arranged.

“If he needs a few tickets, I’m sure myself or the PDC (Professional Darts Corporation) will sort some.”

The two-time world champion then told the future king that he’d be welcome at the Worlds.

Prince William is an avid football fan and was supporting Aston Villa when they won the Europa League in Istanbul last week.

After Villa thrashed German side Freiburg 3-0, he posted on social media: “Amazing night! Huge congratulations to all the players, team, staff and everyone connected to the club! Forty four years since the last taste of European silverware!

“Special shout-out to Boubacar Kamara who has been out injured but is such an integral part of our team and helped lay the foundations of this success.”

Villa defender Matty Cash then revealed: “He was in there having a beer with us. He’s just delighted. He’s such a big supporter.

“He’s always coming to the training ground, always at Villa Park. And he deserves moments like these and hopefully he can let his hair down today.”

Finals Night is on May 28 at The O2 in London. The semi-finals, which are the best of 19 legs will include:

Luke Littler vs Gerwyn Price

Jonny Clayton vs Luke Humphries
