A devastating multi-vehicle crash has forced the closure of the M6 near Coventry, bringing traffic to a standstill. As ambulance helicopters swarm overhead and an enormous 999 response unfolds on the ground, motorists are bracing for long delays.
The main artery through Warwickshire was sealed off from junction 3 to junction 2, with police at the forefront but supported by a heavy presence from ‘all emergency services’, according to National Highways officials.
Rerouted traffic is weaving its way around the scene as highway heads give notice of delay warnings to drivers.
A National Highways spokesperson said: “If this closure impacts on your planned route, please allow extra journey time. Plan ahead, you may wish to re-route or even delay your journey.”
