Major high street chain’s biggest store yet opens in shopping centre | UK | News

A major high street retailer has opened its biggest store in Scotland. JD Sports, or the King of Trainers, opened its flagship store at The Centre in Livingston, Scotland, yesterday (Thursday, June 9). The chain, which already has 350 UK stores, opened the 15,500-square-foot branch at the popular shopping centre, in a massive upgrade from the previous store, which first opened in 2008.

JD Sports’ former branch at The Centre was a 9,500-square-foot unit, but after huge customer demand, the sportswear brand has upgraded its retail space and moved closer to the shopping centre’s main entrance.

Lucky shoppers got the chance to win exclusive gifts, with the shop offering goodie bags and a £50 or more gift voucher to its first 50 customers. And there are more chances to win as launch celebrations are expected to continue until Sunday, July 12, featuring a live DJ and Spin to Win competition at the front of the mall.

Shoppers will have the cash to win cash to spend in-store, exclusive keyrings, and even brand-new trainers.

Larissa Fleming, from Livingston, said: “The new store looks amazing—it is really bright with a lovely layout and has a fantastic selection of trainers and clothing.

“I just had to treat myself to a new pair of On Cloud trainers which I’ve had my eye on for a while.”

Tammy Wilson, who was shopping with her son Rory, added: “It was great to pop into the new-look store this morning, which my son is a big fan of.

“He picked out a really nice pair of Montirex shorts and a t-shirt, but I have a feeling we’ll be back again very soon—we loved it!”

The new opening comes shortly after JD Sports closed all of its Hip stores, a premium streetwear and menswear retailer, owned by the company. All of its operations are now only online.
