A 19-year-old man has been arrested after a teenage boy was shot at a popular non league football club.
The 17-year-old was shot in the leg whilst on the pavilion overlooking the home pitch of The Woodlanders FC in Huddersfield, West Yorks.
Police said the 17-year-old victim was taken to hospital having suffered a “non life-threatening” leg injury after a gunman opened fire.
The suspect was arrested later that evening in Leeds city centre on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.
He is currently in police custody where he remains being questioned by West Yorkshire officers.
The case is being handled by West Yorkshire Police’s Homicide and Major Enquiry team, with detectives urging anyone who witnessed the incident or was in the area at the time of the shooting oin Wednesday April 8 to come forward.
Earlier this week police confirmed that two homes in Huddersfield had been raided by officers investigating the shooting.
A force spokesman said that the HMET team is continuing to progress “multiple lines of enquiry” in relation to the shooting.
