Man dies after falling from city centre hotel as police launch major probe | UK | News

A man has tragically lost his life after plunging from a city centre building.

Greater Manchester Police were called to the scene on Charles Street in Manchester at around 4pm on Saturday May 23. Sadly, the man, who has yet to be formally identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Reports indicate that the Maldron Hotel was evacuated shortly before multiple emergency vehicles and forensic officers were spotted at the scene, with a blue forensic tent erected on the street outside the Maldron Hotel.

Police are treating the man’s death as unexplained and enquiries are continuing.

Armed officers were observed patrolling the surrounding streets in the hours following the tragic incident as the force presses ahead with its investigation.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “At around 4pm today (Saturday 23 May 2026), we were called to reports that a man had fallen from a building on Charles Street in the city centre.”

“Sadly, a deceased man was found at the scene. Enquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding his death, which is unexplained, are currently ongoing.”

No further details have been released by police.
