Man Utd learn £92m transfer reality as Hojlund’s value soars again | Football | Sport

Rasmus Hojlund’s estimated worth has climbed to approximately £92million, though Manchester United are expected to sell him for considerably less. The Denmark international has spent the 2025/26 campaign on loan at Napoli, with a string of impressive displays substantially boosting his market standing.

The most recent figures from CIES Football Observatory’s Estimated Transfer Values tool place Hojlund at a maximum of €106m (£91.5m) and a minimum of €91m (£78.6m). United paid Atalanta £64m to acquire him in August 2023, and it now appears he will be sold on permanently three years on.

A €44m (£38m) buy-obligation was written into his Napoli loan agreement, with that clause set to be triggered as Antonio Conte’s side are on track to secure a place in next season’s Champions League. Hojlund has proved instrumental in their impressive domestic run, contributing 10 goals and four assists from 29 outings.

A prolific spell in front of goal has further boosted his valuation after it dropped to just €35m (£30m), according to Transfermarkt, during his difficult period under Ruben Amorim. Since linking up with Conte, his worth has risen to €50m (£43.1m) as of late March.

Although United are set to take a loss of at least £24m on Hojlund, no funds are required for his replacement with Benjamin Sesko having been signed last summer. The striker has netted 10 Premier League goals since arriving from RB Leipzig, reaching double figures during United’s victory over Brentford on Monday.

Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha were also brought to the club as attacking reinforcements to fill the void left by Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho and Antony.

Cunha was absent from the 2-1 win earlier this week through a minor injury, yet Champions League football at Old Trafford next season is all but guaranteed with four fixtures remaining. A victory over bitter rivals Liverpool would confirm their return to Europe’s top competition.

United could still have a bearing on what other sides get up to next season, as they are yet to face Sunderland and Brighton, both of whom are chasing European qualification, as well as 16th-placed Nottingham Forest. Despite guiding United to a minimum top-five finish, interim head coach Michael Carrick may not be handed the role on a permanent basis, with other candidates currently under consideration.

Oliver Glasner, Andoni Iraola and Luis Enrique are amongst the names to have been linked, with international managers such as Julian Nagelsmann and Carlo Ancelotti also mooted. Having claimed victory in nine of his 13 matches at the helm, Carrick is well placed to secure the role on a permanent basis and take charge of what promises to be a significant summer transfer window.

Midfield looks set to be United’s primary area of focus, with the squad already lacking depth in that department and Casemiro leaving at the end of the season.
