The future of Manchester United goalkeeper Altay Bayindir has become the subject of transfer speculation as the summer window moves ever closer.
The Red Devils have just one remaining Premier League fixture to contend with before shifting their focus toward bolstering their squad ahead of next season.
Michael Carrick has been confirmed as United’s permanent manager following an announcement made earlier this week, having steered the club to Champions League qualification.
The summer transfer window is now fast approaching, and it remains to be seen which players United will target as they look to prepare for the challenges that lie ahead.
On the subject of potential departures, however, it appears that Bayindir could be heading for the exit if recent reports are anything to go by.
According to Turkish outlet A Spor, Besiktas are keen on securing the goalkeeper’s signature this summer, which would bring the shot-stopper’s time at Old Trafford to a close.
The report indicates that the Super Lig outfit are in the market for a new goalkeeper this summer, with Bayindir featuring prominently on their list of potential targets.
Besiktas are looking for a new manager following Sergen Yalcin’s exit earlier this month, with the club reportedly keen to bring in a goalkeeper once the managerial vacancy has been filled.
Bayindir has found regular playing time hard to come by ever since he joined United in the summer of 2023, with the Red Devils securing a £4.3 million transfer from Fenerbahce.
The Turkey international has made just six Premier League outings for United this season, with those appearances coming at the start of the campaign before Senne Lammens was installed as the preferred choice in goal.
Bayindir’s last appearance for United came on September 27 in a 3-1 loss to Brentford, and he has subsequently been named among the substitutes without featuring in every fixture the Red Devils have contested this season across the Premier League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup.
It remains unclear what lies ahead for Bayindir, who has been the subject of transfer speculation for quite some time.
A departure for the 28-year-old would subsequently compel United to enter the transfer market for a goalkeeper to either serve as deputy to Lammens or challenge for the No.1 spot in the side.
