Money expert Martin Lewis has issued a warning as he announced one of his customary breaks from work.
The Money Saving Expert founder has announced a ‘summer sabbatical’ away from his full-on career juggling editing the brand website, a BBC podcast and series of his hit ITV finance show.
Instead, Martin will spend time with his family, wife Lara Lewington and their daughter Sapphire.
Announcing the break on social media, Martin also warned his followers about the increase in prevalence of scams.
Whenever Martin steps away from social, scammers swoop in to try to take advantage of his absence, Martin stressed.
He posted: “That’s it from me, I’m done (for now)! Ta Ta. I’m taking a mini summer sabbatical to focus on family, fitness, sleep & poor golf, to recharge my and my laptop’s batteries for the big autumn coming.
“I’ll be off socials as much as possible. Pls be wary of and report scams with me in, as the criminals tend to ramp it up when I’m not posting.
“The MSE team will still be updating the website, and providing the weekly email, so pls check them for your MoneySaving fix. See you soon. Take care. Martin.”
In the past, Martin has warned never to trust any ads with his face in, because he does not take out advertising.
He said on a previous edition of his Martin Lewis podcast in 2024: “One in three scams involve me. I never wanted to get into being a campaigner on scams. My whole thing is about showing people how to save money not preventing them losing money, but when you’re in a third of the adverts out there, the worst bloody compliment I’ve ever received, you have to start campaigning on it.
“The great frustration for me is if there’s an advert with me in it, it’s always a scam because I don’t do ads.
“I successfully sued Facebook for £3M… but online advertising is still a wild west.”
