In a latest update the forecaster said: “Monday may dawn a little damp for a few of us, with patchy light rain and drizzle in the north.
“The odd light shower will push south through the morning but the vast majority will stay dry. After a locally chilly start, soon warming up in the strong sunshine.”
Showers are also expected across parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Met Office meteorologist Honor Criswick said: “As we head into Monday, northerly winds will drag some cloud southwards, bringing rain across the far north of Scotland.
“We could also see a little bit of rain around the east coast of England, but the best of the brightness is likely going to be across southern parts of Wales and southern England. This is where we’ll see the highest temperatures as well, reaching around 25C to 26C.”
The meteorologist added that as eatsern Scotland and parts of north-east England see the chance of showers, elsewhere conditions will remain largely dry.
Although weather is not expected to be as hot as in recent weeks, there will be sunny spells and warm temperatures.
High pressure throughout the duration of the week is likely to keep widespread rain at bay, according to the Mirror.
County Londonderry (Derry)
The Met Office’s longer range forecast says that much of the UK is expected to remain dry from July 23 to August 1.
However, areas in the north are expected to see patches of rain.
Towards the weekend of July 26 and 27, conditions are forecast to become more unsettled as some rain may also spread into southern areas, although it is likely to be lighter and more patchy.
