Met Office map shows 19 areas hit by rain downpour on Saturday – list | Weather | News

Heavy rain is likely to hammer several areas in the UK this weekend as the Met Office predicts a “north-south split” over the next two days. The weather maps generated by the Met Office show downpours impacting many parts of the UK on Saturday (July 4).

Atleast 19 areas in the country will be battered by the unsettled conditions, while others will experience a lot of sunshine as temperatures soar to 30C, the maps suggest. While the southern and eastern areas will experience warm sunshine, most of the areas in Scotland and Northern Ireland will see cloudier, breezier conditions with rain at times, heaviest in northwest Scotland. The forecaster said the most persistent and heaviest rain will be focused across western Scotland, particularly the West Highlands, where rainfall will be heavy at times. It said: “Eastern Scotland is expected to fare better, benefiting from drier and brighter conditions thanks to a rain-shadow effect.”
