Met Office names 39 areas facing heavy rain on Saturday – full list | Weather | News

The Met Office has revealed which areas face rain this weekend ahead of another possible heatwave next week. Saturday could bring showers to North-west England, Scotland, and Northern Ireland, while areas in the south remain mostly dry, the weather agency said.

Its forecast for Saturday to Monday reads: “Scotland, Northern Ireland and the northwest of England will often be rather cloudy and breezy with outbreaks of rain. Mostly dry further south with some sunshine. Turning hot in places.”

Levels are expected to remain relatively low, with most places seeing up to 0.5mm/hr, though Fort William in Scotland could get as much as 16mm/hr.

In England, the worst-affected areas are forecast to be Cumbria and North Yorkshire, which could both see localised downpours up to 4mm/hr.

There will also be small amounts of rain in the Peak District, Lincolnshire, and Norfolk, though no more than 2mm/hr is expected.
