Miley Cyrus recently stepped up to help a fan during an emotional battle with breast cancer.
The singer met with Cash Jacobs, a fellow musician, after one of her shows at the Hollywood Bowl earlier this month. During their hang, Cyrus helped Jacobs, who has Stage 3 breast cancer, shave her head in preparation for her chemotherapy treatments. The process was captured in a video that was shared on social media Oct. 21. And for Jacobs, the moment was profoundly meaningful.
“thank you @miley. For making me feel safe and comfortable, for giving me your time, and for being exactly who you are,” Jacobs wrote in the post’s caption. “It is a huge gift to continue to watch you grow and you are forever my biggest inspiration. Stay soft and strong 🤍”
In the video, Cyrus gives Jacobs some uplifting advice. The “Flowers” star also says a few words before the makeover.
“Thank you to the universe for bringing us together, and celebrating our connection and what music does for the world — it brings people like you and me together that may never meet,” Cyrus says.
The video then gets into the makeover process.
“Let’s go girl,” Cyrus says, before taking the buzzers to Jacobs’ head.
The pair share some light moments as well, with Cyrus remarking on how great Jacobs looks in the new ‘do.
“You got cute ears, you got a good-shaped head, you got a gorg face,” Cyrus says.
Jacobs initially got connected with Cyrus after she posted a video, sharing her breast cancer journey and calling on the singer to be the one to shave her head. The internet responded by tagging Cyrus and ultimately, the “Malibu” songstress came through.
In her Oct. 21 post, Jacobs explained that Cyrus not only flew her out to Los Angeles and gave her tickets to the show, but also helped her through “one of the scariest and most intimate moments of my life.”
“They say don’t meet your idols. Well I did. And it was everything and more,” Jacobs wrote.
She added that Cyrus’ music has always uplifted her during difficult moments in her life.
“And when they pass, I can listen to her songs and be reminded that I got through it and came out stronger,” Jacobs wrote. “Between major depressive episodes and finding out I have stage 3 breast cancer. I am lucky enough to have reached her and her team and been given this opportunity of a lifetime.”
Jacobs also thanked the internet for making it all happen, before praising Cyrus for her kindness.
“Miley is the softest, coolest, KINDEST, and most genuine human being I’ve ever had the privilege of meeting and spending time with. And not to mention her SHAVING MY F***ING HEAD!!!!! WHAT?!?” Jacobs wrote. “I want to hold on to this moment and to always remember the conversations we had and what they mean for me.”
Cyrus’ two nights at the Hollywood Bowl have been all-around emotional. The singer, whose recent performances marked her first solo shows since 2022, broke down as she paid tribute to her godmother, the late country legend Dolly Parton, on opening night.
“Me and Dolly, we are eternal,” Cyrus said, speaking to the crowd as she sat at the edge of the stage. “Nothing in this life could ever tear us apart.”
