Morrisons launches £2.50 meal deal ‘rule’ across all stores – started on June 17 | UK | News

Morrisons has launched a new meal deal that works out at just £2.50 per person to celebrate the World Cup. The supermarket chain has brought out the offer in time for the football tournament, with the deal including two mains, two sides and a pack of four drinks. The cost of the offer is £10, with Morrisons saying this will save people £14.75.

The meal deal has been launched as Morrisons expects two-thirds of people in the UK to tune into the games. YouGov research shows 55% of the public are set to watch on from home.

The £10 Match Day Meal Deal serves four people for just £2.50 each and is inspired by US game-day food culture. The deal will be available in store and online from June 17 to July 28.

Alongside the Match Day Meal Deal is a Pizza Counter Meal Deal and Takeaway Curry Banquet. The Pizza Counter Meal Deal is available until July 19 and features two pizzas and one side for £10. The Takeaway Curry Banquet will be available until July 7 and includes both a chicken korma and chicken tikka masala curry bag, along with two sides.

Sian Whittle, Trading Director of Meal Solutions at Morrisons, said: “We know this summer’s tournament will bring people together in living rooms across the country, often late at night due to the time difference, so we’ve created a range of meal deals built around easy, flavour-packed sharing food.

“From wings and ribs to loaded nachos and fries, the range is all about making it simple to host a great match night at home without stretching the budget.”

Shoppers can mix and match their meal deal with more than 1,800 combinations of mains, sides, and drinks. Foods like slow-cooked barbeque ribs, buffalo wings and pulled pork, to loaded nachos and Southern fried chicken, plus sides like fries, onion rings and bacon mac and cheese, are included in the deal.
