Nationwide members may need to contact building society by June 8 – what you need to know:
- Nationwide Building Society has announced it will continue its Fairer Share Payment scheme for the fourth consecutive year, with roughly 4.4 million members set to receive a free £100 payment.
- The building society confirmed on Thursday that eligible members will see the money arrive in their accounts by June 30.
- Nationwide explains: “We are a building society not a bank, which means we can do things differently. Unlike our banking peers, we share some of our profits with eligible members.”
- However, members who do not wish to receive the payment must act quickly, with a deadline of Monday, June 8 to opt out.
- Nationwide said: “You will need to let us know, no later than June 8 by calling us on 0330 123 9734, Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm, Saturday between 9am and 2pm, or by visiting us in branch.”
- Once members opt out of the 2026 payment, they will be unable to reverse that decision. Those who previously declined payments in 2023, 2024 and/or 2025 will still need to notify Nationwide again if they wish to opt out this time.
