Next James Bond odds slashed in half on rising star after ‘wave of support’ | Films | Entertainment

The search for the next James Bond is well underway, as announced by Amazon MGM Studios last month. This means that secret auditions are now taking place to find the new 007.

Stars like Callum Turner and Jacob Elordi are hot favourites in the bookies’ odds race. But they’re seeing new competition from a rising star whose odds have been slashed in half.

The actor in question is Patrick Gibson, who is already the latest official James Bond star. For the past five years, the 31-year-old has been filming his motion-capture performance as a 26-year-old incarnation of Ian Fleming’s spy fresh out of the Royal Navy and earning his License to Kill.

The critically acclaimed video game 007 First Light has had fans calling for him to replace Daniel Craig on the big screen, too. Having recently played it coy when asked directly about such a possibility, it’s hardly surprising that his odds have been slashed from 20-1 to 10-1 “after a wave of support”.

Coral’s John Hill shared: “Patrick Gibson’s role in 007 First Light has clearly caught the attention of punters. We’ve seen strong support for him in our next James Bond betting over the last few days, with many believing he has the credentials to become the next actor to take on the iconic 007 role.”

The other odds are as follows: 4-6 Callum Turner, 3-1 Jacob Elordi, 5-1 Aaron Taylor-Johnson, 8-1 Harris Dickinson, 10-1 Patrick Gibson, 16-1 James Nelson-Joyce, 20-1 Henry Cavill, 20-1 Jonathan Bailey, 20-1 Theo James, 20-1 Jack Lowden, 20-1 Anthony Boyle.
