Only five days left to claim free electricity with ‘8am to 4pm’ offer | UK | News

Households are running out of time to reclaim the cost of eight hours of electricity usage over the first May bank holiday weekend through Uswitch.com. Registrations will close at midnight on Wednesday, April 29.

Uswitch.com is offering to reimburse households for any electricity consumed between 8am and 4pm on one day over the bank holiday weekend, up to the value of £10. Households can select their preferred day from Saturday, May 2, Sunday, May 3 or Monday, May 4.

The deal is available to new customers with a compatible smart meter, regardless of their current supplier. New customers simply need to connect their smart meter to the free Uswitch app, register for Power Hours, Uswitch’s energy-saving scheme, and opt in to the bank holiday savings.

By the end of May, Uswitch will calculate how much electricity each household consumed on their chosen day during the active hours. Customers will be notified once their earnings are ready to claim, and can withdraw their money directly from the Uswitch app straight into their bank account.

Households that use an electric oven for two hours to prepare a bank holiday roast could recoup 99p from their cooking costs. Running a 1.4kW air fryer for two hours could earn 69p, while using an electric hob for two hours could add a further 96p.

Making the most of the bank holiday by cleaning the car or patio for an hour with a 1.5kW jet washer could earn you back 37p, while every load of washing you put through the washing machine and tumble dryer could earn you 93p back, reports the Mirror.

Natalie Mathie, energy expert at Uswitch.com, said: “Time’s running out on the opportunity to claim free electricity over the first May bank holiday weekend, so make sure you sign up before midnight on Wednesday 29 April. Whether you’re tackling the spring clean, catching up on laundry, or cooking for friends and family, you can earn back your electricity spend on us.

“It doesn’t matter who your energy provider is, as all new customers are welcome to claim back the cost of their electricity. You just need a compatible smart meter. We’ll pay you back for electricity used between 8am and 4pm on your preferred day of the bank holiday weekend.

“We’ll calculate your earnings by the end of May, and you’ll then be able to withdraw the money directly from the app into your bank account. Download the Uswitch app and sign up as soon as possible to make sure you don’t miss out on your free electricity.”

The offer is open to new users with a compatible smart meter, regardless of their supplier, but Uswitch says spaces are limited. Download the free Uswitch app and connect your smart meter to claim your May bank holiday electricity.
