Premium Bond checker: NS&I draw for August ‘delayed’ as two £1m prizes up for grabs | Personal Finance | Finance

Britons hoping to find out today if they have become millionaires may be disappointed, as the Premium Bonds draw hasn’t yet taken place. While the National Savings and Investment (NS&I) draw date normally coincides with the first day of the month, the August 2026 winners will be revealed next week.

The delay is due simply to the fact that August 1 falls on a Saturday, while draws normally take place on working days. As a result, the millions of people taking part in the Premium Bonds draw will be able to find out early next week whether they have won a prize.

Premium Bonds are an investment product from the NS&I owned by the Government, and are held by more than 20 million people in the UK.

Each month, savers are entered into a draw to win cash prizes starting at £25.

While the distribution of prizes changes slightly every month, it is expected that there will be two £1million prizes up for grabs in August too.

Those winning the top prize are normally informed in person, with the news expected to be shared with them on August 3.

However, NS&I updates its prize checker on the day after the first working day of the month, which means smaller prize winners will be able to verify whether they managed to scoop any of the smaller prizes from August 4.

In order to do so, Brits only need to input the holder’s number on the NS&I’s prize checker.

The minimum investment into Premium Bonds is £25, while the maximum is £50,000, and every £1 has approximately a 22,000-to-one chance of winning.

The prizes are determined by a random digital prize picker called ‘Ernie’ (Electronic Random Number Indicator Equipment).

More than £127billion has been banked as part of the Government-backed saving scheme.
