Prince William and Princess Catherine are said to have one very strict rule when it comes to their children, especially Prince George. The young royal, who celebrated his 13th birthday earlier this week, is set to start at Eton College this September – with the education establishment also his father and uncle’s former school.
The couple are known to be very hands on when it comes to raising their children, including 11-year-old Princess Charlotte and eight-year-old Prince Louis, with the pair known to prioritise school runs, bedtime and activities outside of school. One thing that they have been open about is that all three of their children do not yet have mobile phones.
Catherine, 44, has previously wrote that she fears the current generation have been “born into a world immersed in digital technology”.
She previously wrote about people checking their phones “during conversations, scroll through social media during family dinners or respond to emails while playing with our children”.
Adding that “we’re not just being distracted, we are withdrawing the basic form of love that human connection requires”.
During his previous appearance on The Reluctant Traveler, William told Eugene Levy: “None of our children have phones, which we’re very strict about. We sit and chat. It’s really important.”
Whilst George and his siblings do not have mobile phones, William has previously stated that he would allow his eldest son to have one without internet connection – to ensure that he could stay in touch with his family and friends.
With George set to start at Eton this autumn, the royal will likely board – something that he had already started at his former school, Lambrook School.
During a Heart Radio interview back in May, Prince William surprised fans with a passing comment that his eldest school was already boarding at his school.
As well as commenting on his family’s morning routine, he added: “George was boarding last night,” which was previously unknown.
