Princess Catherine is a much-loved member of the Royal Family, and it’s hardly surprising that the nation loves her so much. With constant interest in the royals’ lives, it can be hard for them to balance privacy and sharing their day-to-day with the world.
In Divide and Rule: Royal Women and Their Battles, Catherine Mayer says that some royals, such as Meghan Markle and Princess Diana, have either opted to share huge parts of their lives with the world or have chosen to push back against the public’s interest. But others, such as Princess Catherine, have chosen to “hide in plain sight”.
Mayer writes: “Kate’s best and only defence – and an uncommon skill at which she excels – is to hide in plain sight.”
She adds: “Perhaps we could hail Kate as an unallowed royal success story.”
Catherine argues that other royal women who have not followed this path have faced much more backlash.
She pens: “The harder Diana kicked against the restraints of royal culture, the greater interest in her, and the more limited the protections she enjoyed.”
Princess Catherine can often be seen at royal engagements and along with her husband, the couple have a whopping 17.3million followers on Instagram – a platform they regularly post on.
Just recently, Catherine shared some images of her completing the National Three Peaks Challenge for charity.
In the down-to-earth image, the princess can be seen at the top of one of the UK’s highest peaks, wearing hiking gear.
She followed up by recording a short video to share on the platform, racking up a huge 11,500 comments.
In response to the video, one royal fan penned: “You are an inspiration. Congratulations on an incredible climb, Catherine.
Another person wrote: “You are absolutely incredible and such an inspiration to so many people around the world.”
A third fan said: “She is one amazing lady. It’s been a pleasure to watch her journey over the years and she truly is a huge credit to our Royal Family.”
