Princess Kate shows true colours at Commonwealth Games with Prince Louis | Other | Sport

The Princess of Wales has been praised for showing her true colours as her family enjoyed a day out at the Commonwealth Games on Saturday. The Games have entered their final weekend, with Princess Catherine, alongside her husband, Prince William, and their three kids, taking in the action.

It was the first time that Prince Louis had attended a major sporting event with the family, with the youngster having seemingly enjoyed his day out in Glasgow. And as such, former England Netball head coach Jess Thirlby praised the family for their attendance, claiming it highlights how important the Commonwealth Games are, in addition to an incredible gesture from Princess Catherine.

She told TNT Sports: “They picked a good one this morning. I’m privileged, I got a letter from Kate after the 2023 World Cup where we had got into our first final and taken silver. She was a big champion of all things that the team had achieved. Despite missing out on gold, she recognised the importance and significance of us making that first World Cup [final].

“So I have got a real soft spot for them. I really love the fact that all three children are here as well, because often Louis gets left at home, which is fine depending on the circumstances, but I think it showcases absolutely that the Commonwealth Games is for the whole family, and I am sure they are going to have a brilliant time down at the track.”

It’s been an eventful summer for the Royals, with members of the family having enjoyed football matches, Wimbledon and several other events. A social media post recounted their exploits, with the caption reading: “The Summer Rewind. Thank you to everyone who has made the last few months so special!”

It comes after Kate had revealed in 2025 that her cancer was in remission. Another social media post shared by the Princess earlier this year read: “Healing, whether personal or collective, is not just about fixing what is wrong. It is about finding balance in how we live. Between effort and acceptance, between control and trust, between thinking and simply being.

“Because in the end, bravery isn’t just about pushing forward,” Kate added. “It is about knowing how to stay grounded, connected and present, no matter the terrain or landscape you are walking.”
