Real reason Peter Phillips has no royal title despite close relationship with King | Royal | News

While the wedding is set to be private and intimate, a number of Peter’s royal relatives will attend. This will include his mother Princess Anne and his sister Zara Tindall. It is also believed that senior members of the family will attend, including King Charles and Queen Camilla.

The wedding will be Peter’s second time getting married, and comes five years after his divorce from first wife Autumn.

The reason behind this is down to Princess Anne, who made the decision not to give her children Peter or Zara royal titles when they were born so they could live a less restricted life.

Explaining her reason for this, Anne said in an interview before her 70th birthday: “I think it was probably easier for them, and I think most people would argue that there are downsides to having titles.”

It is believed Peter, 48, and his sister Zara are grateful that their mother made this decision, which has allowed them to have a more private life compared to their royal cousins.

It has also not impacted on the relationship they have with their royal relatives, including their uncle King Charles.

Speaking about the bond Peter has with his royal relatives, Grant Harrold – who was once a royal butler to King Charles between 2004 and 2011 – told OLBG: “He’s very close to his uncle, the King.

“The King enjoys spending time with Peter and his sister Zara, which we see whenever they attend public events together. The King has a lot of time and love for him.”

Harrold also said Peter is still “a close family member” despite not having any royal title or official duties.
