River Irwell search UPDATES: Major operation underway after boy enters water | UK | News

A major search was launched on a stretch of the River Irwell at a country park in Salford this morning, after a boy reportedly got into difficulty in the water. Emergency services and specialist teams were deployed to the scene at Clifton Country Park in Salford, after the incident on Saturday afternoon, the MEN reports.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson has said this morning: “At around 4.49pm on Saturday 27 June 2026, we were called to reports of boy getting into difficulty in the River Irwell at Clifton Country Park. Emergency services and specialist search teams remain at the scene. The incident is ongoing.”
