A Romanian migrant has been accused of raping a teenage girl on a UK beach. Madalin Ilinca, aged 34, of Suffolk Place, Great Yarmouth appeared at Norwich Magistrates’ Court yesterday (Monday, June 8) charged with rape and sexual offences.
He was charged with one count of rape, one count of sexual assault, and one count of sexual assault by penetration.
It comes after two teenage girls reported they had been raped on Great Yarmouth’s South Beach on Saturday, May 16.
At the hearing, a plea and trial preparation hearing was set for Monday, July 6 at Norwich Crown Court.
The Romanian national defendant has been remanded in custody until his next court appearance, Norfolk Police said.
Great Yarmouth is a popular seaside resort, known for its long, sandy beach.
Next to it is the Pleasure Beach amusement park.
