A major bank is giving customers £225 free if they do one thing before Friday. Santander is offering a £180 bonus and £45 Amazon voucher to Brits who switch to a Santander Edge account.
MoneySavingExpert.com called it a “strong pick if you want upfront cash and ongoing bills cashback – especially for households”. For £3 a month, the Santander account has 1% cashback on up to £10 a month on council tax, energy, water, mobile, broadband, and TV bills paid via direct debit.
It also has a linked saver paying 6% variable for a year up to £4,000, and an 8% variable regular saver you can put up to £200 a month in for a year. It is also the top debit card for spending abroad with “near-perfect” exchange rates.
To qualify for the £180 bonus, customers must open an account by 2pm on July 31, switch in another account, pay in £1,500, set up two active direct debits, and pay £180 within 90 days.
To qualify for the £45 Amazon voucher, customers must set up their account as above, as well as open the 8% regular saver and deposit £200 within 30 days. They will receive the voucher after September 30 and must claim it within 30 days.
Those ineligible are those who sign up after July 31, have previously received a Santander switching bonus, or have had a Santander account before 2025 or in the last 12 months.
There are other Santander accounts eligible for the £180 bonus, including the free Everyday, £5-a-month Edge Up, and £17-a-month Edge Explorer.
Edge Up offers up to £15 a month cashback, but customers need to pay in £1,500 a month. The Edge Explorer includes travel, breakdown and mobile cover.
The Everyday and Edge Up accounts qualify for the Amazon voucher, while the Edge Explorer account qualifies for a £150 hotel voucher.
