A huge fire has erupted in Swansea as smoke is seen for miles above the city centre.
Labour MP Torsten Bell posted from the scene: “I’m concerned there appears to be a fire in central Swansea in the city church area – advisable to stay away until it’s clear what’s going on. I’m contacting the emergency services and council and will be following the situation closely. Stay safe.”
Locals are reporting traffic disruption with “chaos” on the city centre roads due to the blaze.
According to Google Maps, there is very slow traffic and severe congestion on High Street, Bridge Street and New Cut Street.
Mid and West Fire and Rescue service said crews are in attendance on Dyfatty Street. They advise locals to keep doors and windows closed.
It is currently unclear what has caused the fire. The Express has approached the local fire service for comment.
